All of MYP have been to the forrest today putting learning into action doing first aid. Rigged with various trauma scenarioes, blood and gore, the students had to assess the situation in front of them and decide on how to respond. A few 'casualties' but we saved most!
Yesterday Grade 6 enjoyed a fun hike to Langevannstoppen! No rain or bad weather will stop this energetic group from enjoying time together outside! Gotta love the spirit.
Grade 5 had a “rockin’” trip to Bergverksmuseet during their recent unit on natural resources. They explored the museum’s mineral collection, learning about the different properties used to categorize minerals. Students were excited to break out the hammers and get some hands-on experience with calcite, feldspar, quartz and mica.
On Friday MYPC visited the Optometry Department at the university college, Høyskolen in Sør-øst Norge, to learn some more about the eye and how it is tested, as part of their science unit on light and sound.
Grade 2 visited the public library at Krona to learn more about the facilities. The learned about how the books are organized, how and where to find a specific resource, and they had their own library cards!
Grade 3 visited the Viking ship museum in Oslo as part of their Unit of Inquiry about cultural artefacts. The students learnt not only about the ships themselves but also about the many artefacts that were discovered through archaeological excavation at the sites where these boats were found. The students learnt that as well as trading widely and being skilled boat builders, the Vikings were also skilled at other crafts including weaving, ironwork, jewelry making and farming.
MYPC and D had a fun afternoon at Kongsberg Videregående Skole visiting the Career Exhibition
